Wanted: Promotions Manager (temporary)

Promotions Manager for Create Without Borders’ Refugee Week events

About the role

We are looking for someone with lived experience of forced migration to take on the role of Promotions Manager. You must be based in Lewisham or have a good knowledge of the area and its networks. Our events will cater to families, adults and children, and we want to reach out to as many people as possible. We want everyone who hears about our activities to feel welcome, tell all their friends, and come along. As we will be promoting events online, you will need to be skilled at social media, putting together eye-catching visuals and wording to promote our events.

We also plan to promote our events off line, for example in local free papers. You will coordinate the design, translation, printing and distribution of fliers and posters. We hope you will have ideas about local businesses, organisations and groups that can help us get the word out. You will also work alongside our partner organisations to promote our collaborative events.

Most importantly, we hope you will come to the role with fresh ideas and ways to reach new audiences.

Type of role: Temporary voluntary role

Key dates: May-late June, flexible days and hours – approx. 30 hours in total

Stipend: £500

About us

Create Without Borders (CWB) promotes and celebrates the work of creatives with lived experience of forced migration. We do this by collaboratively creating digital and physical spaces that showcase work, facilitate partnership working, create paid opportunities and engage the local community. We use the term creative to include visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, comedians, chefs and more. We are a small team of volunteers. Most of us live in Lewisham but due to current restrictions we usually meet and collaborate remotely.

About Refugee Week events

Refugee Week is a UK-wide festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. CWB will be commissioning artists with experience of forced migration to organise a series of workshops, performances, exhibitions and other events across the week, some in person and some online. Our final celebration event on 19th June will be a day of market stalls and live music at Beckenham Mansion.
